UK - Russia Year of Music 2019

It was great to back in Yekaterinburg this week as part of the British Council’s UK-RUSSIA Year of Music 2019.

Continuing my relationship with the wonderful musicians of the Ural Philharmonic Orchestra I gave my first public performance in Russia, which featured the Russian premiere of Gabriel Prokofiev’s Bass Drum Concerto – the work that first brought us together during the summer of 2018.

The evening began with the Russian debut of my audio visual project Powerplant, which included Graham Fitkin’s Chain of Command, Max de Wardener’s Im Dorfe and Gabriel Prokofiev’s Fanta with video by Kathy Hinde throughout.

The second part of the concert saw the world premiere of Matthew Fairclough’s Transient Response (a new work for Xylosynth and orchestra) and Elgar’s Enigma Variations under the baton of Alexis Bogorad.
